We purchased out tickets with the optional dinner through their box office. I contacted "Gilbert" at T S & C. Original review: Oct. 26, Pack-Rat picked up our full container on 10/10 for a move from Los Angeles to Minneapolis. The container was supposed to be delivered to our new house on There is a good bit of the fun and shtick that the Rat Pack was known for, but the script is actually more serious. It dwells a lot on Sinatra’s relationship with the Kennedy’s and how that relationship affected the dynamics within the Rat Pack. We were very pleased with our Pack Rat experience. We were able to pack up things early and have them stored for our move. The process went so smoothly and I have already recommended it to others I know who are moving.

I think the show was trying to appeal to all. That means that if I would have took my grandpa, he would have liked the Frank Sinatra part and not liked the newer artists such as Adele.
I was bored a lot. BECAUSE Frankly, I'm not sure who the 3 guys are besides Frank Sinatra. Who are the other two?
I haven't got a clue! Anyhow, on to the food. I actually read the reviews before going. MAYBE that should have scared me off.
I was told the food was terrible on the reviews. The waiter informed me that if you order the vegetarian dish I should have ordered soda.
I ordered the wine. It just was too strong for me! You might have a different opinion about that. I'm a lightweight! This venue is across the street from Old Town.
So, make sure you turn in directly across from Old Town. The address is: West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, FL Date of experience: October Dear Cosmogurl, we were torn as whether to respond to your review.
We were perplexed why someone would wait a whole 8 Months to review something. While we appreciate feedback of any kind , again we were perplexed why anyone would attend a show called 'The Rat Pack and Friends " if they didnt know who they were , and then complain that they didnt know who the Rat Pack was.
Happy to see that you liked Adele, Elvis and Michael. You are correct when saying that the show has wide appeal , that is what we were going for as families could attend with children and older adults for a fun night out.
Based on your other reviews , we are happy that you gave us 3 stars. Roshaz wrote a review Jan Gloucester, United Kingdom 8 contributions 11 helpful votes.
Treated family to this dinner show - mainly for my mum who's era this was - she had a ball and thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Kids were a little bored as they didn't recognise singers but perked up at Lady Gaga and Adele impression singers. Fun time had by the end of the evening.
In the smaller roles I thought Dan O'Herlihy was a standout as the evil, conniving Joe Kennedy. The musical numbers are well integrated into the plot and nicely done.
Scoopy 6 January Y'know, I really liked this film which recalls a year or two in the life of the Rat Pack, but I can't tell you why.
I've watched the DVD four times in the last three days. On the one hand, it is just a rehashing of some old cliches and an extended display of celebrity impersonations.
When Sinatra performs, for example, it is Ray Liotta's body and the voice of a fellow named Michael Dees Forget about the rest of the players This guy is so good it is eerie.
I guess what I liked about the movie is that it was just so much damned fun to live in those days again for a couple of hours.
The movie did a decent job of showing what it was like to be hung up in the ring-a-ding, koo-koo life of the guys who had "the world on a string" for a couple of decades.
Forget the deep insights. There aren't any but, as Dino said, "you can't share your deepest feelings when you don't have any".
The film did make an effort to show Sammy's inner conflict between his own sense of self-worth and the second class citizenship he was accorded by his country and even his buddies, but it was a clumsy attempt to be serious, like a drunken guy telling you how much he loves you, and frankly it provided some of the slowest moments in the movie.
But you'll marvel again at Dino's centered calm, Sammy's dazzling talent, Frank's complex and godlike power, JFK's charisma, and Frank's incomparable phrasing of a song Exploring Sinatra's associations with his musical friends and the Kennedy family gunsonfrench 25 September I missed this on HBO and was delighted to pick it up recently.
With the possible exception of Ray Liotta, the physical casting was truly well done. Liotta plays Sinatra reminiscing towards the end of his life about his golden years, his old friends in the 'Rat Pack' and his aspirations to be loved universally by helping John F Kennedy into power.
What made this stand out for me is not only the wonderful recreations of the legendary on stage horseplay the Rat Pack indulged in, but also some of the private agonies, particularly those of Sammy Davies Junior, in another superb performance by Don Cheadle, who is given his own solo spectacular scene in a face off against the Ku Klux Klan.
The Kennedy and Lawford association is also covered in some depth, and the Sinatra character is well rounded - we feel for him much of the time, but his personality is far from sugar coated.
As a film character, he is compelling, although Ray Liotta makes little attempt to emulate Sinatra in voice or mannerisms.
Joe Mantegna IS Dean Martin physically, and this helps the authenticity of the piece, but he is sadly underwritten, Gone is the hell raiser and womaniser of legend.
In his place is a laconic 'Fonz', smooth with the ladies, but sleeping alone. William Petersen nails Kennedy in spite of physical differences, and the scenes with him and Sinatra seem consistent with their characters.
Angus McFadyen plays a nervous Lawford, caught between using his Kennedy connections to become part of the Rat Pack and keeping Frank out of the White House.
Ava Gardner also makes a brief appearance in the form of Debra Kara Unger. Aside from the unusual casting of it's lead Aidan Quinn would have been a much more realistic choice , my only real gripe is how suddenly it all ends, while you wait for a proper conclusion.
This is a wonderful glimpse into the intertwined lives of some of the highest profile people on the planet. I've given a lot of thought to this movie and, in all honesty, I can't think of anything in particular to critique about it.
Revolving around the relationship between the famous "Rat Pack" of the 's Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. In addition to the Rat Pack and the Kennedy's we get glimpses of Marilyn Monroe Barbara Niven and Joe DiMaggio John Diehl, and a look at the involvement of organized crime.
The performances are strong. Ray Liotta was a standout as Sinatra, but no less compelling were Joe Mantegna as Martin and Angus MacFadyen as Lawford.
Bobby Slayton as Joey Bishop was less central to the story, but pulled off the character well. Only Don Cheadle as Davis seemed to not quite grasp his character, but he still managed a good performance.
The intricacies of the relationship between the five particularly between Sinatra and Lawford are detailed and everything seems very natural.
Is this really the way it was? I don't know. Only these five would know for sure, but the movie seemed plausible and was an entertaining evening - another success for HBO in my opinion.
I found it fascinating stuff. The story is good and certainly made me think about maybe why and by whom John and Bobby Kennedy as well as Marilyn Monroe were killed!
But that's a side point. Not a bad film but the casting director needs to be shot! Don Cheadle, as Sammy Davis is probably the most convincing and I am sure it was no easy task to capture the highly talented Mr Davis Jr, especially the dancing.
The racism and the obvious pain of Sammy really came through. Angus MacFadyen's Lawford is not too bad and is second to Don Cheadle's performance.
From there the casting goes really off Joe Mantegna captures something of Dean Martin's character but is not as handsome or charming enough.
William L. Petersen, looks and sounds nothing like JFK and portrays him as a shallow, weak character. Then we come to the worst casting in the whole film.
Ray Liotta looks not even close to Sinatra, he is much too tall, and even worse he fails to carry himself like him and his speaking voice is just awful, he sounds like a squeaky teenager most of the time.
So with a better cast this could have been a superb film but it is not. Classic Tragedy, with Incredible Characters slight spoilers Leofish 6 July The fascinating thing aboutThe Rat Pack film is that director Rob Cohen treats it almost like a Greek tragedy, with an impressive rise and a truly mournful downfall.
That these characters are real people and larger-than-life in their swagger and impact on a nation only adds to this movie's effect.
The casting is awe-inspiring, with Cheadle, Liotta, and Mantegna really becoming their parts, not just aping mannerisms and voices of the real people but catching the effect of their styles and personalities.
Liotta's is a very difficult part, for the real Sinatra was a turbulent, conflicted man, capable of rage and powerful anger and yet love, loneliness and tenderness, and it's great compliment to Liotta to say that he nailed the part.
However, the film is most effective in showing the tragedy and lost hope of the Kennedy Years, the flawed but beautiful "Camelot" myth.
William Peterson is great as Jack, coming across as a devilish, womanizing politician who wants to conduct himelf as a Rat Packer yet finds himself constrained by his Presidency, which ultimately hurts Sinatra, in scenes so emotional that the viewer feels very sorry for the wounded crooner, wanting love and respect from his poweful friend and yet getting rejected for the way he and Jack Kennedy has lived his life.
The final scene, set to the tune of "One for My Baby" is haunting both in its revelations, its sad reflection on its characters, and the horror in what it leaves unsaid.
A lesser film would've shown the Rat Pack's reaction to the Kennedy assassination and ended there, but instead Cohen ends with a shot of Peter Lawford standing solemnly outside the Kennedy Family Home in Hyanis Port, looking out to the sea, as if waiting for something.
Then comes the end of the song, and there is a brilliant shot of the needle coming off the record and the familiar dull thud, then silence.
A perfect metaphor for November 22, , and the true end of the Rat Pack. The Rat Pack Review As my wife is a Sinatra fan, it was only a matter of time before I ended up seeing this.
Ray Liotta, Don Cheadle, and Joe Mantenga star in this film, portraying their counterparts Sinatra, Davis Jr.
This film is not so much about the Rat Pack as it is about Sinatra and the help he offered to get John F. Kennedy elected as President of the United States.
JFK is portrayed by none other than Gil Grissom from CSI. At any rate, the rest of the Rat Pack is only lightly touched upon as Sinatra is followed around almost constantly.
But then, what do you expect? He practically owned the other guys. Here's the breakdown: The Good: --The acting is superb, Liotta is a mind-blowingly convincing Sinatra.
Complex story. And a short time it was; something that always amazes me as an historian looking back on "movements" or "eras" which had significant cultural impact.
Funny how most of them last for only years and we still live the fruits today. The Ratpack was just a bunch of guys, a sort of in crowd" getting together for a good time.
They had money and style and could pull it off, and at the end of the book I'm not sure if any of them actually realized the impact they had.
Frank Sinatra, as I said, was a prick, but much more. An insecure guy, afraid of his mother, who ended up believing his own publicity with the juice to back up his own myth.
Honestly I'm surprised somebody didn't pop him. I remember Jimmy Fratiano making fun of him in his first memoir, as a wannabe.
Dean just wanted to be left alone--separated from it all. Sammy Davis, Jr. Sammy caught in two worlds no matter what he did.
Joey Bishop, who I remembered as a much bigger name than he really was, sorta kept things in order, a great talent who stood up to Frank.
And finally, Peter Lawford, a truly tragic figure. I always liked him TV shows Dear Phoebe and The Thin Man , a totally screwed up guy with a crazy mother, seriously sexually abused as a child, and a Kennedy adjunct, kicked to the curb when he self-destructed his marriage to Pat Kennedy and kicked further by Sinatra when he lost his Kennedy usefulness.
I plan on reading James Spada's bio of Lawford later this year. My only criticism of the book is that I'd have liked more analysis on Frank's relationship with Mia Farrow what were both of them thinking?
Barbara Marx is mentioned only in passing. Back in the 's I had a chance to see Frank perform and I turned it down. I really regret it. Celebrity, Las Vegas, Hollwyood, sex, the mob, the Kennedys, Marilyn Monroe, money.
Ratpack Confidential is good entry into the culture history of mid-century America. Like after I recently finished Babbitt, I feel "nostalgic" for the Ratpack days.
American has next to nothing now. The Ratpack, was in it's way manufactured, but nothing like mass manufactured contemporary Amerika.
Aug 10, Krista rated it it was ok. Good story. Terrible writing. I have always been fascinated by the Rat Pack.

Frank and crew ruled the world of showbiz for a couple of years, then were cast aside by the rise of the counter-culture in the 60s and 70s.
But Frank is still the king of male singers, and his albums still fly off the shelf. And, surprisingly, Dean's and Sammy's best still hold up today.

Levy's foray into the Rat Pack world of broads, sex, booze and crime is a real page turner, tying together the connections between Frank and the mob and the Kennedys.
Disclosure: Shawn and I go back about 30 years when we worked on the same Hollywood publication. The beauty of this book is that despite all the tales of excess and glitz and bad behaviour, you are never really left feeling like the Rat Pack are just a pack of assholes.
Rather, that they are taking full advantage of their status and their popularity and forming a kind of club that sets the bar sky high for style and talent.
Real singers singing real songs. Compared to the current chart dross, it made me nostalgic for a time I never knew.

I had the worst moving experience with PACK-RAT with our move from California to Ohio. Our POD was 7 days delayed but they could not give me an ETA on arrival until they were 5 days delayed.
We literally went 5 days not knowing where our belongings were. After all that waiting it turns out they were STILL in California.
Their customer service team is worthless and mislead us the entire time. I originally chose Pack-Rat because they could deliver on a specific day, now I think they just told me that to get my business.
DO NOT USE PACK-RAT unless you want to wait longer and spend additional money. We apologize for any inconvenience the customer experienced. A member of our team has reached out to the customer directly to reach a resolution.
Rented container on 8. As of Nov 4th they have not come to pick it up. Have called them 4 times about this. They just keep putting it off until another time.
They even tried charging us for it still being on my property. Bethann, unfortunately, we have not been able to locate your order based on the information we have at this time.

Thank you! Now I am selling the house under my name in 3 days. We were told to call and give a day and time for pick up so we packed and tried calling for pickup a few days ago and were told the soonest would be November 19th After a few days and HOURS on hold, I finally got through to a supervisor, who seemed a little shocked that I was actually transferred to him.
I explained the situation and told him, "I CANNOT have this in front of my house Friday. He also explained how they do their scheduling by hours and the legality of the business regarding DOT.
He was very informative but not exactly helpful. What it seems is that they are run thin as far as manpower and equipment goes and this throws chaos into scheduling.
It seems they are very quick to drop off containers, where they get their money, but very unreliable when picking them up.
Actually, 2 hours after getting this container delivered she got a call saying they were on their way to drop off the container More info I received from the supervisor.
Now, I own my property. There is a container sitting on it After calling some towing companies, I learned that I can have this container removed from my property, for a hefty price.
Is this seriously how I am going to have to sell my house? Is this how I am going to have to remove this container?? David, unfortunately, we have not been able to locate your order based on the information we have at this time.
The bank had turned off my card off for 2 hours because I was driving across the county as a security measure. When it didn't go through they sent one email that went to my junk folder.
And that was all! They had everything we own and we never got another email or phone call they had our number and had no issue using it when I was scheduling the move.
If we had ordered a meal from Grubhub and our card didn't go through for whatever reason, we would have gotten multiple emails and a call.
They have done absolutely nothing to help us. I cannot stress this enough, do not use this company! We sincerely apologize for the difficulties our customer has experienced.
